Feverfew (Tanacetum parthenium) is an herb that is commonly used to treat headaches and migraines. It is also used for other medicinal purposes, such as to reduce inflammation and alleviate digestive problems. Here are some tips for growing feverfew:
Choose a location: Feverfew grows best in well-drained soil and full sun or partial shade. Choose a location in your garden that meets these requirements.
Plant seeds: Feverfew can be grown from seeds, which should be planted in the spring. Sow the seeds in small pots or seed trays, and cover lightly with soil. Water regularly and keep the soil moist until the seedlings appear.
Transplant seedlings: Once the seedlings have grown to about 2 inches tall, they can be transplanted to a permanent location in your garden. Be sure to space them at least 12 inches apart to allow for proper growth.
Water and fertilize: Feverfew prefers moist soil, so be sure to water regularly, especially during hot, dry weather. You can also fertilize with a balanced fertilizer once a month to promote healthy growth.
Prune regularly: Prune feverfew regularly to promote bushy growth and prevent it from becoming too leggy. Pinch back the tips of the stems to encourage branching.
Harvest leaves: Harvest feverfew leaves as needed for medicinal purposes. The leaves are most potent when picked just before the flowers bloom.
